The Washing Away of America’s Morality

Any good student of American history knows that the first building block in the very foundation of America and its liberties is our Declaration of Independence. This document is a mission statement if “you will.” The document itself tells why we are who we are as a people and a nation and why we became who we are, as a country. The document is a prequel for our Constitution, which we use as an owner’s manual for America – or “how to” in this case.
The opening paragraph tells its very intent, perfectly well, with no room for error. This complete document can be read by going to Archives.gov.
“When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”
In this Paragraph it states plainly, “’Nature’s God’ entitle them” this meaning, is irrevocable, simply put, God given, not by man or government. We should all know the most famous quote from this document which is:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.“
“Endowed by their Creator” meaning God, the higher power, and after reading the entire Declaration of Independence, we now know why, or who America is, abundantly more clearly. Let us turn our attention to the true intent of what our government is supposed to be. Once again this can be set up by its most famous opening Paragraph of our Constitution, that can be read in its entirety at Archives.gov.
“We the people of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
This is something a lot of people overlook in my opinion, contained within this statement, “and secure the Blessings of Liberty.” The word “Blessings” is mostly glossed over, more often than not. If we define a Blessing, it means a gift from God. The Founding Fathers knew everything America is and would ever be is a gift from Him, our Creator.
People, I have noticed in two totally separate new stories have been attacking this relationship with America and God at the foundation of not only faith, but also bit by bit, they continue to allow the subversion of our shared morality. The first of these two attacks is Islam’s attempt to, “Fundamentally Transform” our very Holiest of books the Bible. This from Atlas Shrugs:
“Mainline Christian organizations are changing their holy scripture to avoid offending Muslims. Not only does this violate their scripture, but it also defeats the purpose of their mission–to share the Gospel. If mainline Christian organizations fear Muslims so much that they have to edit what they believe to be the Word of God, how far can they be from submission? Where are the righteous, the outraged, the proud?”
By doing that they are edging us away from God’s truth, and this will add to the erosion of His blessings within our country and our daily lives. There is something to be said for staying strong and not cowering, in fear, of those people wanting to destroy America and all that do not believe. This is an attempt to weaken our relationship with God, which I will discuss later.
We have had a moral attack on the value of life. This attack also reminds me of that same kind of speech being tossed about in the times of the abortion decision. This falls under the name of organ donation. This according to BioEdge.org:
“Is it morally wrong to kill people? Not really, argue two eminent American bioethicists in an early online article in the Journal of Medical Ethics. Walter Sinnott-Armstrong, of Duke University, and Franklin G. Miller, of the National Institutes of Health believe that “killing by itself is not morally wrong, although it is still morally wrong to cause total disability”.”
The Article goes on to say:
“This radical conclusion may shock some readers, but the authors are not murderers. They want to bring greater precision to what we mean by killing. Rendering someone totally and permanently incapacitated is just as bad as taking a life, or so they contend. Killing totally disabled patients does them no harm.”
Just to think they went on the attack when Sarah Palin even mentioned death panels. Looks like they could be here sooner than we might think. It is not man’s place to take a life, the only one that can do that is the one that gave it to us, our God.
In the second issue I mentioned, let’s look at how this is in complete disagreement of our Constitutional rights given by God; What happened to the very fundamental right to life. If we become a nation that allows someone else to take a life, we will be forever separated from God losing the very protection of Divine providence. These two attacks will forever change the bedrock upon which our beautiful America was founded. May God Bless America!!!

The Founders knew that their fledgling Republic—built upon Freedom and personal responsibility—would only function properly and peacefully with a moral society. As our national society became more diverse—and less assimilated—the moral code that once united us as a people began to become more “tolerant” of behaviors that previously had been considered immoral.
The flip side of that coin was “slavery”: which many people accepted as being a “moral” practice; as long as they accepted “the notion” that black African slaves were “less” than human. Same was true for women’s suffrage rights: it had been widely-accepted (at the time) that “women” were not sufficiently educated or informed enough to make wise voting decisions.
Looking backwards from our present consciousness, we can see that some American practices that we had “accepted” as a “moral people” were immoral. The social problems we are experiencing today, however, have their origins in the “liberation” movements of the 60s and 70s that sought to change our nation’s moral code (and laws) into an amoral code. Their agenda was to promote the idea that the immoral behavior of certain individuals should be considered moral—and therefore legal—as long as no one (else) is “harmed’ by it.
This concept of a highly-flexible moral code took root in our “diverse” American society—and in liberal politics—because amorality is “easier” than living by moral absolutes.
