How Congress is its Own White Elephant Enigma

It is interesting that this particular debt ceiling crisis is the end all be all.  Haven’t they all been?  The reality is that our situation is what it is because of the institutional failure of the Legislatures through the course of time to reign in the over zealous spending. The government itself is so large, federally, that most people don’t comprehend the scope, size and reach of the tyrannical monster that is now at the helm of our nation.  Here is a link that will give some insight into that.

Today, we hear from President Obama yet again that the sky is falling, yet what we know is this….the sky has been falling for a while now.  Taken from a link at AP, we get wisdom from Mr. Obama:  “‘We don’t have any more time to engage in symbolic gestures, we don’t have any more time to posture. It’s time to get down to the business of actually solving this problem,’” the president said. Now, if he actually meant it, instead of meaning a temporary fix that simply puts off until tomorrow what we could face head on today.

Government of this size and scope is unsustainable, because government is not a producer.  Government of this nation was supposed to be of the people, by the people and for the people, yet cronyism seems to set in, instead of allegiance to those to whom service is being rendered. The government provides jobs, but even then, those jobs are paid for out of the public dole, tax dollars, and borrowed funds. Yes, taxes are recollected on them, of course, but even government jobs fail to meet the criterion of production jobs. This run away spending is what the real problem is…thinking that another government agency will be the solution to yet another problem….making a larger and larger sector of the financial structure such a huge part of the equation….all of these things are contributory to what got us here. Liberty and Freedom lie like dead horses in a field, while the government simply looks at short terms fixes, instead of true acknowledgment of the problem. We are all, by no choice of our own, born into slavery to an entity that sees itself as our solution but creates more problems for us than it solves. Truly that makes the entity “in charge of fixes” far less likely to do so, as it will affect them and the ability to maintain power of such scope.  Therein lies the ultimate White Elephant in the room that we all see, yet is rarely mentioned. Government’s unsustainable finance problems are created by the decisions made by who again?  Government….hmm.

It remains to be seen whether Congress will give us just a band-aid and hold off the inevitable, or if they will actually do what is moral and right for the nation.  My bet is on the 1st choice. I truly wish I could say otherwise.
